Memories

Photo Credit: Snoopy and Woodstock belong to Charles Schulz. I'm not so sure about the girl in the middle.
Some years back, we were given the opportunity to create a likeness of ourselves (more or less, sometimes, maybe) to use on Facebook. I created the posted picture, showing me with my two good friends, Snoopy and Woodstock. I feel like going off to spend some time with them while the world sorts itself out.
Nothing makes sense, anymore. A president who breaks law after law. A congress that sits idly by, doing absolutely nothing to reel him in and hold him accountable. And, most recently, a president who declares war on another nation without notifying, let alone obtaining approval from, Congress. Admittedly, Iran is no friend of this country and for very good reasons. Still, there are right ways and wrong ways to solve problems. These days, too many people and institutions are choosing the wrong ways.
I'll be with Snoopy and Woodstock, if you need me.

I long to meander among the live oak trees. It brings to mind going to the "big woods" with a friend and riding our bicycles along those winding paths.

At one point, we created what we called Hernando's Hideaway. The trees there were smaller than the live oaks in the picture, probably water oaks, and much younger, too. We made our hideaway by placing sticks between the trees and draping them with Spanish moss or interweaving them with palmetto fronds. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our hideaway for long before the boys came along and destroyed it. Mean old boys!

I'm tired of winter. So, I'm going to post pictures of flowers in hopes that they will spur the weather to overlook Punxsutawney Phil's prediction and give us an early spring.

This picture, taken in the summer of 2011, shows our banana plant, which shot up to seven feet in height; our plumeria, which gave us beautiful yellow blossoms; and our president hibiscus, which gave us hot-pink blossoms. With warm weather and sunlight that was filtered by a nearby oak tree, they and I felt like we had found heaven on earth.
